First Nations and Metis Education Plan

The First Nations and Metis Education Plan guides school divisions in an annual planning, monitoring, and reporting cycle that is aligned with the school division strategic plan and the Education Sector Strategic Plan.

    • Goal 1 Literacy - 70% of our FNM students reading at or above grade level in reading in Grades 1 to 5 by the end of 2016-17.  FNM data will be disaggregated to determine the success of the FNM students.
    • Goal 5 Self Declared Students - Increase of Self-declared students: All learners to have knowledge and appreciation of the unique contributions of First Nations and Métis peoples to Saskatchewan. Increase the number of FNM students who self-declare by 15% over the total number per year in each of the next three years.

This is an exciting initiative that the Good Spirit School Division looks forward to working and growing with in the years to come. If you would like further information, please contact Mark Forsythe, Superintendent of Education, at the Administration Office by phone at 306-786-4754 or via email at mark.forsythe@gssd.ca.
