Saskatchewan Reads is a provincial companion document to the curriculum. It was created based on sound research, specifically in reading, focusing on instructional approaches, assessment and intervention. It was developed by a Provincial Reading Team consisting of a cross-section of educators and ministry personnel. This was unique, as it was the first time the province came together to collaborate on a provincial document.

The intent of SK Reads is to provide a framework for school divisions to increase capacity at the school division level. These literacy pages are intended to support this framework. Each section has been adapted to reflect balanced literacy in the Good Spirit School Division.
