GSSD Scholarship and Bursary Information
Short List of Local Scholarships
1.The Yorkton Exhibition Scholarship - $1,000
This scholarship is offered to a student pursuing post-secondary education in an area related to Agriculture. Community involvement is considered, and students must apply for this scholarship.
2.The Marca College Scholarships for Excellence in High School Cosmetology - $1,000. These scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated excellence in the cosmetology area, and are to be applied to tuition at Marca College in Saskatoon
3.Good Spirit Teachers Association - $750
This scholarship is awarded to a Grade XII student who is planning post-secondary studies leading to appropriate qualifications in the teaching profession.
4.The Yorkton & District Band Boosters Music Education Awards - $500
These awards are offered to students pursuing careers in music education.
5.The Yorkton Curling Club Scholarship – (amount and number may vary)
This scholarship is awarded to an active junior member of the Yorkton Curling Club who is continuing with post-secondary training. Preference will be given to a student entering Agricultural studies. Students must apply for this scholarship.
6.The Parkland Mall Merchants Association Scholarship - $500
This scholarship was created for students from Manitoba and Saskatchewan who are furthering their education in business. Students must apply for this scholarship.
7.The Gary Voinorosky Memorial Scholarship - $500
This scholarship is given to a deserving student who has had extensive involvement in minor sports and who follows the philosophy of Mr. Voinorosky “Whatever You Do—Do Well.” Students must apply for this scholarship.
8.The Cornerstone Credit Union Ltd. Scholarship - $500
This scholarship goes to a graduating student who plans to further his/her education in the field of business.
9.The Sask. Registered Psychiatric Nurses Assoc. (Yorkton Branch) Scholarship - $500
This scholarship is given to a student who is going into Psychiatric Nursing or a Registered Nursing program.
10.The General Alexander Ross Branch No. 77 Bursaries – (amount and number may vary)
These are presented to Grade XII students who are children or grandchildren of a veteran and who plan to continue their education.
11.The Yorkton Cooperative Association Jake Berg Memorial Scholarship - $300
The Jake Berg Memorial Scholarship valued at $300 is offered annually by the Yorkton Co-op and is open to Grade XII students from Yorkton Regional High School, Sacred Heart High School, Esterhazy High School and Kamsack Comprehensive Institute. The student must meet the entrance qualifications of a post-secondary institute and the family must have a membership in the Yorkton Co-op. Students must apply for the scholarship and the recipient is selected by a committee of the Co-op’s Board of Directors.
12.The Alex Denesyk Memorial Scholarship - $300
This scholarship is available to a student who has attended the Theodore School for at least three years, who presently resides in the Theodore district, and who plans on attending a recognized post-secondary institution to study agriculture. Students must apply for this scholarship..
13.Doreen Berrns Memorial Scholarship - $250
This scholarship is presented to a Grade XII student from the Springside District. The recipient must be planning to enroll in some academic, vocational or technical program which is not offered at the High School level.
14.The Willowbrook and District Lions Club Scholarship - $250
This scholarship is awarded to a student from Willowbrook and district and/or the son or daughter of a Willowbrook and District Lions Club member. The student must have a good academic record and must be planning further education at a post-secondary level.
15.The Bredenbury Lions Club Scholarship - $250
This scholarship is availiable to a student who attended Saltcoats School to complete grade eight. The student must be attending full time at Y.R.H.S. and must be continuing with post-secondary education. Leadership and volunteerism is are important criteria and students must apply for this scholarship.
16.J. Elton Davidge Scholarship - $150 (offered in 2009)
This scholarship goes to a Grade XII student from the City of Yorkton, who plans to pursue post high education. Academic standing will be a consideration, however, the student’s community participation will be a main focus.
